Yesstyle Korean beauty box review.

Berrisom My Lip Tint Pack.

I’m not a crazy makeup person myself (though my collection has steadily been growing ever since blogging) but when it comes to Asian beauty products, I can get a little mad.

Spending a month in Thailand almost every year is a great way to both wreak havoc on your wallet & expand your beauty culture – if that’s even the term we’re looking for.

I think I was about 12 when I first opened my eyes to the Korean beauty market. Cute packaging, girls with flawless pale skin & beauty products that uncannily represented food products. You would be forgiven for thinking I only chanced upon this world by thinking I was buying adorable sweets.

Back then, the only real way I could get my hands on these cute products was my annual trip back to Thailand or after pestering my brother there to go into a store & buy me a bunch of things to send over to me. The latter never worked.

These days, it’s so much easier to get a hold of the newest in Asian beauty products, now that Korean beauty products have taken the world over with their girly packaging & unique innovations. I think the most obvious place that comes to mine is Yesstyle, when thinking of everything kawaii.

No idea where to start though – my wish list on Yesstyle is crazy long & also features a bunch of random household items I never knew I needed – take a look at their monthly Korean Beauty Box.

You get a cute box with 10 Korean Beauty Products. Here’s what I got this month.

Lip mask for plump lips.

Tony Moly I’m Real tea tree mask sheet

Etude House Collagen Eye Patch

Etude House Precious Mineral BB Cream cover & bright fit

Etude House Color My Brows

Tosowoong Balck-head nose pack

Laneige Lip Sleeping mask

Beauty People Fast 10’s gel eyeliner auto pencil

Berrisom Oops tint cheek cushion

Berrisom Oops My Lip Tint Pack

MacQueen Cushion Tint lip & cheek

Etude House Cover & Bright Fit BB cream.

I’ve had a long & rather satisfying relationship with Etude House. The cute packaging drew me in & the delivery kept me there. I’ve only just started buying high-end foundations but I always find the shades a little off. Maybe because Etude House is made for Asian skin, I can always seem to find a perfect shade. If you’re a tanning fanatic though, these shades probably aren’t going to match you, especially since this box is a random assortment of items.

The coverage is exactly what you’d expect from a BB Cream. Just enough to even out skin tone & achieve an effortless I-have-no-makeup-on-but-I-really-do look. Not enough for a night out but perfect for the day time & those days you really can’t be bothered with a heavy foundation. It’s almost the same consistency as rubbing lotion into your face.

Laneige lip sleeping mask.

I have no idea what a lip sleeping mask is because, honestly I haven’t used it yet. Lip masks are quite popular now, so I’m guessing a lip sleeping mask is pretty much the same thing, only you smear this one on to your lips before bed with the adorable little spatula included in the box.

The pamphlet explains that it melts dead skin cells on your lips while you sleep & relieves troubles that could not be solved with moisturising lip balm alone. The mask itself is a weird, heard gel type consistency & feels quite sticky. I’ll let you know how it goes if you’re interested in the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask results.

Tony Moly Skin Soothing I’m Real mask.
Korean skin masks.

If you weren’t going to pick up a Tony Moly product for the adorable packaging, you were going to pick it up because you’ve already fallen in love with the line or heard amazing things about the brand. It’s one of the more recognisable South Korean beauty brands & for good reason. Asian beauty masks are one of those things though, that you need to keep using to see any real results. But there are results.

I haven’t used this one yet, but my partner has a bag full of these (& some from other brands too) which he uses to whiten & brighten & they really do work. However, this was with consistent use – he can hardly be bothered anymore since he works in the sun all day. They’re relatively affordable (compared to a lot of western facial masks) so consistent use shouldn’t be too difficult or pricey.

Masks are also such a great way to wind down & clear your skin at the same time so why not make it a cute one?

Soothing The Seoul

Beauty People eyeliner in diamond brown.

The only thing I can think of the Fast 10’s on the package referring to is the speed of applying the liner. Apparently you can apply this liner in as long as 10 seconds.

A simple wind-up eyeliner pencil that gets the job down with great colour payoff.

This one (in Diamond Brown)  is smooth & creamy to apply with tiny flecks of sparkly glitter.

I don’t think it’s waterproof though because it does smudges – which can be perfect for creating a dramatic smokey eye.

I don’t usually use brown liner but this one by Beauty People is a great alternative for a softer look.

Oops cheek tint cushion.

Berrisom Oops cushion tint.

In an attempt to look older & less like a child, I stopped using blush when I was around 13 years old.

Ironically, as you get older, it’s the exact opposite & we’re spending unthinkable amounts of money on trying to look younger.

This Yesstyle beauty box came with two cushion tint blushes. The Berrisom Oops Tint Cheek Cushion comes with a little cushion application which makes it glide on so easily. I received the Sugar Pink colour (the other shade is Cream peach) which is honestly, more pink then I’d usually think about adding to my face but now we’re in spring over here, I’ll be trying the colour out for the lighter seasons. The cushion does make it 100x more fun to apply which is always a good excuse to put more makeup on.

The other cushion tint that came in the box was the MacQueen Cushion Tint for lips & cheeks. This one isn’t as fun to apply – it comes with a lipgloss like applicator – but the glass bottle is super cute, the colour is really nice & it can be used on your lips too which probably explains the lip type applicator.

Korean black heads pore strips.

Must try Korean beauty products.

Can you believe this is the first time I’ve ever used a pore strip?

I’m not sure if this Tosowoong black-head nose pack made a difference or if I even did it right, it doesn’t help that I can’t read South Korean either, but after a bit of Googling & diagram interpretation, I decided that I’d wet my nose a bit then apply the patch over the top of it.

It wasn’t enough to make it stick so I put some more water onto my finger tips & pressed it in, waited about 15 minutes then proceeded to rip it off.

Bad idea. These things hurt. Also, I didn’t even let it dry enough so I’m not sure how much that factors into the overall results but I’m guessing it’s quite an important part of the process.

& the fact that it felt like it was tugging greatly on my skin makes me feel like it did pull something out of there but I’ll have to try again properly to be able to come to a real conclusion. Have any of you used these before?

What A Ripper

Etude House Collagen eye patch. Korean beauty products to try out.

Eye mask review.

If there’s one thing my friends insist on buying me, it’s eye masks (thanks guys)… But if you’ve seen me in real life, you would be forgiven for thinking that I haven’t slept for about a hundred years.

I’m not tired, but it doesn’t stop me from using eye masks. Especially when they come in so many different types. The one from this Yesstyle Korean Beauty Box is from Etude House. It’s a collagen eye patch which has been “formulated with collagen to revitalise & improve appearance around the eyes” according to the packet.

Am Eye Tired? Or Just Ugly?

Etude House Colour My Brows, eye brow mascara.

Eye Browsing

I first picked up one of these spooly-type eyebrow mascara things in Japan a couple of years ago & have been worrying about it running out ever since because I use it every single time I do my eyebrows. This brow mascara is by Etude House but it’s pretty much the same thing.

If you’ve never used one of these to do your brows, you’re wasting a lot of time. These make colouring them in so quick & easy & they look a lot more natural then the Instagram brow everyone seems to be rocking these days.

I’m not a fan of dramatic eyebrows so this little thing is perfect for me.

Berrisom My Lip Tint Pack.

If there ever was a beauty product to remind me of my childhood, this is it. the bright packing, sweet scent, crazy tint & tacky feel of the Berrisom My Lip Tint Pack seem like a throwback to the 90s. Which I don’t mind. I don’t love it either. I was really hoping this would taste like its smell but it actually tastes horrible. Not sure if there intention was a flavoured lip product but you definitely don’t want to get this stuff on your tongue.

Taste aside, the colour is really nice (there’s a bunch of other colours to choose from too) & super fun to apply:

You apply it (liberally I guess) to your lips, wait for it to dry, then peel it off! Then you’re left with 24hr lip colour. So you’re not left with tacky lips in the end.

It doesn’t smudge either so you don’t need to worry about reapplication after eating or even brushing your teeth & it doesn’t move around like lipstick or lipgloss.

This was probably my least favourite item in the box but after realising it’s a peel-off lip tint, it’s probably now one of my favourites.

What would be your favourite product from this box & would you ever try out the Yesstyle Beauty Box? Let me know below in the comments!
