A Sanrio Puroland photo diary on everything dripping in kawaii.

I was really excited to visit Sanrio Puroland but honestly, I was really disappointed with it. While it was filled with kawaii stuff as expected, everything just looked really outdated and it was really just a big rip off. Most of the food was portioned for children. I don’t know, maybe it is targeted at kids but I’m sure I saw more teenaged girls there than any other group of people there. It was pretty cool that you could buy the set option of most meals though. That way you’re able to keep the cup/plate/whatever. I may have spent a considerable amount of money of cups and plates in Japan.

And six dollars* for a small cup of corn soup?? No thanks. Ok, I did buy it and it was good but not six dollars good.

Even the entry fee was ridiculous. Maybe it’s not exorbitant but it’s a lot to pay for a place where the average waiting line is longer than those at Tokyo Disneyland. We literally stood in line for 1.5hrs to go on a boat ride which was essentially children toys moving around and popping out at us and I have no idea how long I stood in line for to see inside Lady Kitty’s house.
They do have discount coupons on the website though, which you can print off prior to visiting. Just simply hand it in when buying your ticket.

I found that the staff there were not all that nice either (and it’s really hard to find unpleasant people in Japan – almost everyone is extremely polite and courteous) but I guess it would be fair to say you’d probably get tired of your job if 1.5 million people are filing through every year. I did get stupidly happy though when I found out there was a little games centre upstairs filled Sanrio UFO catchers. We won a few things which made the trip out to Tama totally worth it.

I wouldn’t recommend it unless you’re an absolute die hard Sanrio fan but it does seem a little bizarre to me to visit Japan without checking out the home of Hello Kitty herself so enjoy the photos and follow me down below to stay updated on more Japan posts.

All I got was a small cup of corn soup. They’re lacking in pescetarian options but I guess that’s my fault.
Depending on what you order you get to keep the cups & plates as souvenirs!
